Deadfall 25K
Deadfall is a set of trail races held within Brighton Recreation Area that includes the following distances:
- 10K
- 18K
- 25K
The courses wind through rolling terrain and a variety of trail types, including fast flowing singletrack, root-covered corners, punchy climbs, flowing descents, dense pine stands, and hardwood ridgelines. The route uses portions of the Penosha, Torn Shirt, Murray Lake, Kachin, and Bishop Lake trail systems and starts and finishes at the lakeshore. The event is the inaugural running of Deadfall.
All distances share a six hour cutoff. For the 25K this translates to a minimum average pace of just over 23 minutes per mile to complete the course within the time limit. Race day features well-stocked aid stations, clearly marked courses, event shirts included with entry, and finisher medals for those who finish within the cutoff. Top overall finishers in each race receive a pair of Altra shoes provided by the title sponsor.
October conditions are noted for crisp air, colorful fall foliage, and trails covered in fallen leaves, which are part of the expected race setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
