Dark & Dirty Nighttime 10k Trail Run
The Dark n’Dirty is a nighttime trail race of 10 km held near Reading, Pennsylvania, that uses wider double and triple track rustic trails overlooking the town. The course is intentionally less technical; runners are responsible for their own illumination on the trail, and organizers will place glowing markers at some turns.
The event finishes at the Reading Liederkranz German Singing & Sports Club, which provides indoor restrooms, a covered pavilion, post-race food, and a beer garden where beverages are available for purchase. The course is wheel measured and includes natural trail hazards such as rocks, downed logs, mud, and wildlife.
Online registration is required and prices vary depending on entry date, with a short sleeve cotton shirt offered for early entries while supplies last. Raceday payment is cash or check only because of limited internet service at the venue. There are no refunds; the event runs rain or shine with the possibility of delay for lightning.
Safety and eligibility rules are stated clearly: participants are responsible for their own health and welfare; EMS will be on site. Minors may race only with a parent present, and runners under 16 must have someone committed to running the entire course with them. Dogs on very short leashes are permitted if they start toward the back for the first quarter mile. Awards are given for overall and age group categories, plus prizes for the most illuminated runners.
