Culbin Forest 8-hour Challenge : 21 November 2026

NU Limits Running Ltd stages an 8 hour loop event at Culbin Forest. Participants complete as many 4.366 mile laps as possible within the 8 hour time limit. Each lap has approximately 135 ft of ascent and follows trail paths through Culbin Forest.

Participants wear an electronic wristband (HuTag on a velcro strap) that records the start and finish time of each lap. Timing readings are registered at the event timing monitor and final results are confirmed when runners check out at Basecamp and hand in their timing tag. A finisher bag is issued after checkout.

Distance markers by lap:

  • 3 laps = Half Marathon
  • 6 laps = Full Marathon
  • 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon

Basecamp offers kit storage under two 6 x 3 metre gazebos; the organiser does not accept liability for lost items. Spectators are welcome and parking is provided in the left-hand side field at the entrance to Culbin Forest, with marshals directing vehicles on the event morning.

Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration for the event duration (minimum 1500 ml fluid and 60–90 g carbohydrates per running hour), appropriate weather-resistant clothing, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone.

Volunteer roles include start/finish staff, route marshalling, aid table support, registration and car park support. Volunteers may be offered a free entry for a future event. Refunds and transfers follow the organiser's stated time limits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
