About the race
The River Park Classic X/C is the second event in the 2026-2027 Calgary Roadrunners cross-country Grand Prix series, which includes ten events across parks in Calgary and the Town of Okotoks. The series features nine individual races and one three-leg relay in Confederation Park, with standard distances of 8 km, 4 km, plus a short run for children.
The River Park Classic takes place on October 3, 2026 at the Sandy Beach picnic area. The race start is adjacent to the picnic area with parking near the Elbow River; access from Crowchild Trail via 50th Avenue and 14A Street SW is described by the organizer. A kids run takes place on a groomed grass and pathway course and occurs before the main races.
On-site late registration and fee payment are available, and online pre-registration is preferred via a Google Form. Fees are collected in cash or check on race day. Entry fees are listed as follows:

A parent or guardian must complete an online waiver for each child entered. The event may include an outdoor post-race BBQ; participants are asked to bring dessert and their own bowl cup mug and utensils to reduce waste. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
