Crowell Hilaka Trail Run
The Crowell Hilaka Trail Run takes place in the Richfield Heritage Preserve in Richfield, Ohio. This location is a historic site that previously served as the home of the Oviatt family, a site for inventor Jim Kirby’s work, and a Girl Scout camp for 75 years. The event is organized by the Fast Girls Running Company and focuses on running through wooded natural environments.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 50 km
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
The course features a variety of terrain types, including primitive single-track trails, sections of Ohio's Buckeye Trail, bridle trails, open fields, and camp roads. For the 2026 event, the route includes a 0.6-mile paved section to assist with navigation. Runners should expect typical trail conditions such as mud, slippery rocks, roots, and minor water crossings.
The race format uses a 6-mile loop. Participants in the 50 km race complete five loops, those in the Half Marathon complete two loops, and 10 km runners complete a single loop. The event starts and finishes at the summer barn on Oviatt Road. Aid stations provide water, gels, and a selection of salty and sugary items, with more substantial food options available for the 50 km participants.
