Crimson Canyons Ultra September 19, 2026
Crimson Canyons Ultra is a trail running event in Richfield, Utah that offers three distances across the Pahvant Range and Fishlake National Forest. The courses link canyons, dry washes, remote sections of the Paiute ATV Trail system, and the Pahvant Mountain Bike Trail System, with routes that run along streambeds, cliff rims, ridgelines, and groomed dirt trails.
The event distances:
- 10 km (6.2 mi) 1,226 ft gain, 4 hour limit
- 21 km (1/2 Marathon) 13.1 mi 2,009 ft gain, 8 hour limit
- 60 km (Spinal Tap Trail) 38 mi 6,980 ft gain, 15 hour limit
The 60 km course reaches the summit of White Pine Peak at 10,200 feet then descends about 18 miles on the Spinal Tap mountain bike trail. The half marathon follows Big Red, Kiln-It and Faulty Trails, runs the Cottonwood Canyon Rim and One-in-a-Pinion, and descends on Lower Spinal Tap. The 10 km goes up Big Red and Kiln-It and returns via Cairn-Age and the Tank Run.
Logistics note that Richfield is located in central Utah, about 1 hour 45 minutes south of Provo and about 1 hour 40 minutes north of Cedar City. There are local hotels and a KOA; a partner hotel offers discounts for participants. Packet pickup is held the evening before at Lion's Park. The event uses timed starts and chip timing. Aid stations are spaced through the course and supply items such as Hammer gels, fizz, and Heed. All runners must carry a personal hydration solution. 60 km runners must carry additional required items including a rain jacket and may use one drop bag at Aid Station 3.
