Copper Kings 100

The Copper Kings 100 is a 100 mile loop ultramarathon centered on Butte, Montana. The course starts and finishes at the Belmont Mine and includes 63 miles along the Continental Divide Trail. The route runs largely above 6,500 ft, begins at 5,650 ft, reaches a high point of 8,400 ft, and contains 13,960 ft of total vertical gain and loss.

Aid stations are spaced unevenly, with the longest segment between stations exceeding 17 miles. Most of the event’s elevation gain is concentrated between the first and last aid stations. The event uses a 40 hour overall cutoff and offers a nonbinary competition division. No qualification requirement is listed.

Registration opens in December, timed to occur the day after the Western States lottery draw. Proceeds benefit the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, Our Lady of the Rockies, Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation, and the Montana Endurance Trail Foundation. The 2027 edition is designated as an official qualifier for the 2028 Western States Endurance Run.

The event is produced by Onward Endurance LLC in partnership with the Montana Endurance Trail Foundation. The Copper Kings 100 takes place within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and in Butte-Silver Bow and Jefferson counties, and it is fully permitted through the United States Forest Service and local jurisdictions.

The organizer’s withdrawal policy converts part of an entry to an UltraSignup credit 60 or more days before the race, with no credit for withdrawals within 60 days; military and pregnancy or loss scenarios have specific provisions. If organizers cancel the race, no refunds will be issued, and the event may be modified or rerouted for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
