Colossal Vail 50/50
The Colossal Vail 50/50 is an ultra trail running event held on portions of the Arizona Trail near the community of Vail, about 24 miles southeast of Tucson. The event starts and finishes at Colossal Cave Mountain Park and uses sections of trail between Saguaro National Park and the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains.
The courses were designed by members of the Tucson Trail Runners as relatively fast trail routes on rolling terrain. The route features gentle terrain, expertly built trail, and wide-open vistas. The event offers well-stocked aid stations, comprehensive emergency communications, finish line food, and event swag. Organizers operate the event as a cupless race; reusable cups are available for purchase or participants may bring their own.
The Colossal Cave 50/50 is presented by Fleet Feet Tucson. The Colossal Vail 50 Miler serves as the first event of three in the Southern Arizona Triple 50 series.
