About the race
Coiners is a fell race around Erringden Moor, Stoodley Pike and Bell House Moor near Mytholmroyd. The course is a flagged tour over paths, tracks and moorland, with views of Cragg Vale and a passage by the old coiners cottages at Bell House and Keelam. The route distance is 11 km (6.9 miles) with about 396 m (1300 ft) of ascent. A temporary route amendment for nesting birds is in place so runners must follow the flags.
The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules and is a non-GPS race for navigation. GPS devices may be used to record route and distance but electronic navigation aids are not permitted; anyone who uses GPS to navigate to safety must declare themselves non-competitive at the finish. A decision on mandatory kit for the day will be made depending on weather, but entrants should bring the FRA minimum kit: waterproof full body cover (waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams and waterproof trousers), hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass (not a toy), and whistle. Kit checks take place before race numbers are issued. There will be no safety pins provided, so competitors should bring their own.
The event is based near Mytholmroyd. Parking is at Mytholmroyd Community Centre for a £1 charge and car registration details will be requested; do not park on the road at the race start. Public transport access is available via Mytholmroyd train station and a cycle path from Hebden Bridge. Minimum age is 18. Pre-entry fees are £6 for members and £8 for non-members, with pre-entry on SiEntries by 30 April 2027. Entry on the day is subject to availability up to a 200 runner limit.
