Coiners
Coiners is a fell race around Erringden Moor that follows paths, tracks and moorland, passing Stoodley Pike, Bell House Moor and the old coiners cottages at Bell House and Keelam. The course offers views over Cragg Vale and is flagged; runners remain responsible for following the route and for their own safety.
The advertised distance is 11 km (6.9 miles) with approximately 396 m (1300') of ascent. A map with checkpoints is available and an amendment to the original route is in place because of nesting birds, so competitors must follow the flags.
The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and is designated a non-GPS race. GPS devices may be used to record a route, but electronic devices must not be used to aid navigation except in an emergency. If GPS navigation is used to reach safety, the competitor must declare as non-competitive at the finish.
Mandatory minimum kit may be required depending on weather; competitors should bring FRA-specified kit including waterproof full body cover (waterproof trousers and jacket with integrated hood and taped seams), hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass (not a novelty), and whistle. There will be no safety pins provided; competitors should supply their own. Kit checks take place before race numbers are issued.
Location and logistics: the race field is reached on foot from Nest Lane/Park Road. Parking is at Mytholmroyd Community Centre with a £1 charge; attendees will be asked to provide their car registration. Do not park on the road. Public transport options include Mytholmroyd train station on the Leeds–Manchester Victoria line and local buses. Smoking is not permitted on the route. Dogs must be kept on a lead and spectators should take home their litter.
Minimum age 18. Pre-entry fees and on-the-day fees apply and pre-entry is available through SiEntries by 30 April 2027. Entry on the day is possible but not guaranteed up to the race limit of 200. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
