Cloud 9 Hill Race

Cloud 9 is a club-organised, mostly off road hill race run by Congleton Harriers. The course runs from Congleton to the summit of Bosley Cloud (1125 ft) and returns via the Bridestones, covering 9 miles (approximately 14.5 km) with around 1250 ft (381 m) of ascent. The event is FRA Category BM and is chip timed.

The next scheduled race is on Sunday 7 March 2027. Registration and changing for recent events has been at Congleton Leisure Centre, Worrall Street, Congleton CW12 1DT; there is no parking for runners at the leisure centre and several public car parks are nearby.

Entry details include a standard fee of £15 and £14 for FRA members plus booking fees, with £1 from each entry donated to the National Trust. All entrants must be over 18 years. The race is organised under FRA rules.

Route notes and safety: in 2026 the route was run anticlockwise with modifications around the Biddulph Valley Way while remaining 9 miles overall. GPS and electronic devices are not permitted for navigation; the route is marked and marshalled. Mandatory kit checks are carried out: a waterproof whole body cover (jacket and trousers) with taped seams and an attached hood must be carried, and hat and gloves must be carried or worn. Competitors without full kit will not be allowed to run. There is a cut off time of 60 minutes at about 3.9 miles into the race. Dogs and MP3 players are not allowed. Optional foodbank donations are collected at the event. Race numbers and a course map are issued at the venue on the day and a Facebook page is used for late updates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
