Chopwell Woods Summer Trail Runs 2027

Wild Deer Events returns to its home course at Chopwell Woods for the annual Summer Trail Runs and picnic. The site was the organiser's first event location in 2019 and remains the venue for this summertime event.

The venue is Chopwell Woods, Rowlands Gill, on the fringe of Gateshead. This Forestry England site covers about 360 hectares of mixed woodland and offers trail running through woodland terrain.

Event distances include:

  • 5 Miles
  • 10 Miles
  • 15 Miles

Routes include a 5 mile lap. The event is Canicross friendly - one controlled dog per runner is allowed. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North.

All finishers receive an event medal, a summer buffet and a drink at the finish area. Free on-site parking is available, but spaces are very limited, so walking or car sharing reduces parking demand.

The event is presented as an annual summer gathering with post-run refreshments and a picnic atmosphere in a large woodland setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
