About the race
The Chili Chase is a trail running event in Durango, Colorado, held on October 16, 2027 at 1205 Camino Del Rio. The course runs through Overend Mountain Park, crosses the Hogsback, and includes sections known as "Starwars" and the front of "The HOG." The route is approximately 6.8 miles and features just over 1,500 ft of elevation gain.
The event is presented by the Durango Running Club and Backcountry Experience and benefits The Good Food Collective. Registration opens August 1, 2027 and closes September 1, 2027, with a registration fee of $30.00. The event concludes with a chili cookoff and public tasting; tasting and voting for the chili champion are offered onsite for a separate fee.
Prizes and awards include footwear from Altra, packs from Osprey, SIS gels, and a variety of spot prizes. Chili chefs may enter the cookoff free of charge. Organizers note that the prior year route was adjusted to avoid construction on Roosa Ave.
