Chicago Trail Running Festival - Beecher, Illinois

Chicago Trail Running Festival is a one-day trail running event held in Beecher, Illinois on trail-built courses with natural terrain, elevation changes, and dirt underfoot. Courses may occasionally touch gravel or pavement, but the route network is primarily trail and several distances use the same course network on the same day.

Distances offered:

  • 5K - 3 miles
  • 10K - 6 miles
  • 10K RUCK - 6 miles
  • 20K - 12 miles
  • 30K - 18 miles
  • 50K - 31 miles

Aid stations are provided at key points and are stocked with water, hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event; a water carrying system or personal hydration is required. Longer distances receive more frequent aid station coverage.

Ruck rules apply to the ruck event: participants weighing more than 150 pounds carry 30 pounds, those under 150 pounds carry 20 pounds. A ruck sack or vest is allowed. Ruck finishers receive a Trail Running Festival RUCK patch.

All participants receive a Trail Running Festival soft T-shirt and a finisher medal. 50K finishers receive a specific 50K finisher medal. Top male and female finishers by time at each distance earn a first place award. The last finisher of the 50K receives the DFL "Dead Freakin' Last" award.

Crew and spectator access is available and participants must follow event rules such as parking in designated spaces, notifying the race director if they drop early, carrying water, not littering, and not cutting the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
