South Downs Way 5 km
The South Downs Way 5 km is a trail race on the private Matterley Estate inside the South Downs National Park, held on 11 June 2027. The route follows rolling trails close to the start line used by the South Downs Way 50 km and 100 km races.
The course distance is 5 km with approximately 140 m of elevation gain. The route is fully marked using pink tyvek ribbons and pink Centurion arrows, and marshals are positioned at key junctions. The event is held under a UK Athletics Permit through the TRA, permit number pending.
Field size is limited to 200 starters. The minimum age is 12 on race day. The published cut off for the race is 1 hour. Registration, the start and the finish are all at Matterley Bowl. Medical support is provided on site. There are no aid stations on the course. All finishers receive a medal. Prizes and participant goodies are supplied by the race sponsors.
General entries for 2027 opened on Sunday 20 September and places were offered on a first come, first served basis. The entry fee was listed as £20 for affiliated runners and £22 for unaffiliated runners, inclusive of fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
