South Downs Way 100 (SDW100) - 12 June 2027
The South Downs Way 100 is a nonstop 100 mile foot race that follows the South Downs Way National Trail from just outside Winchester to Eastbourne. The route runs along a chalk ridgeway with rolling hills, ancient forts, villages and wide views north across the Weald and south to the coast and the Channel. The event is the 16th annual running of the race.
Key event details include a course distance of 100mi (161 km), total ascent around 12,700 ft (3,800 m), a 30 hour overall cut off, and a field of up to 600 starters. The course is fully marked and supported by 12 staffed aid stations, full medical cover and live tracking. Terrain is approximately 85% trail and 15% road.
Support and logistics: twelve well stocked aid stations provide hot drinks, hot food at selected stations, and provisions for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets. Drop bags are accepted for Washington (mile 54), Housedean (mile 76) and the finish and must not exceed 50 x 30 x 30 cm. Pacers may join from Kithust Hill crew point (mile 50); one crew vehicle per runner is permitted at specified crew access points and requires a crew pass.
Entry and standards: general entries are first come, first served with an entry fee of £225. Entrants must have completed a minimum 50 mile race within 15 hours since 1 January 2020 or may be contacted to verify qualification. Mandatory kit is required at all times and there will be kit checks; missing items incur a one hour time penalty.
Awards: all finishers receive a 100 mile finisher buckle, with separate buckle designs for sub 24 hour finishes and 24 to 30 hour finishes. Additional trophies and age category awards are presented to top finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
