Centurion South Downs Way 100 (SDW100) : 12 Jun 2027
The SDW100 is a non-stop, 100 mile foot race following the South Downs Way National Trail from just outside Winchester to Eastbourne. The route mainly follows the chalk ridgeway and gives views north across the Weald and south toward the coast and the English Channel. The event is the 16th annual running of the race and forms part of the World Trail Majors series.
The course covers 100mi (161 km) with approximately 12,700 ft (3,800 m) of elevation and is marked for the entire route using National Trail acorn posts plus event ribbons and arrows. Terrain is reported as roughly 15% road and 85% trail. The course is fully supported by a minimum of 12 stocked aid stations, full medical support including static teams and rapid response, live tracking, and a marked route. Runners must finish within a 30 hour overall time limit; there are also strict cut offs at aid stations.
Entries are limited to 600 starters and the entry fee for general entries is £225. Qualification requires a prior 50 mile finish within 15 hours since 1 January 2020; unqualified entrants may be contacted before the event to verify plans. The race uses a two wave start allocated by estimated finish time; only the first wave is eligible for overall awards, while age group awards are open to either wave.
Practical notes: pacers are permitted from mile 50, one crew vehicle per runner is allowed at designated access points, and drop bags are accepted for Washington (mile 54), Housedean (mile 76) and the finish.
