North Downs Way 100
The North Downs Way 100 is a continuous 100 mile trail race following the North Downs Way from Farnham in the Surrey Hills to Ashford in Kent. The advertised route covers 103 miles (167 km) with approximately 11,000 feet (3,350 m) of total climb and is to be completed within a 30 hour cut off. The event is the 17th annual running and is listed as a Western States qualifier.
The course passes through Puttenham, Guildford, Ranmore Common, Box Hill, Reigate Hill, Oxted, Knockholt Pound (50 mile point), Wrotham, Detling, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham and Charing before finishing at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. Terrain is approximately 80 percent trail and 20 percent road. The route is marked by national trail acorn posts plus reflective tape, marker arrows and chalk at major junctions, but runners remain responsible for navigation and must take care at several un-mars halled road crossings.
There will be a minimum of 12 fully stocked aid stations offering options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets, with hot drinks from Knockholt onwards and hot food at select locations. Drop bags are transported to specified aid stations and the finish and have size limits. Pacers are permitted from Mile 54.5, and crews are allowed at listed crew points with one vehicle on course at a time. Mandatory kit, on-course medical provision and finish awards including buckles for sub 24 hour and 24 to 30 hour finishers are specified by the organisers.
