Castle to River Run
The Castle to River Run is a trail race event held in the Hudson Valley and Hudson Highlands State Park near Garrison, New York. The event comprises multiple races and is organized by the Friends of Philipstown Recreation, a nonprofit.
Race options include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K
- Kids Costumed Fun Run
Both the Half Marathon and the 5K use a mix of single track, double-track, grass, and short sections of pavement. The 5K is relatively flat, follows part of Benedict Arnold’s escape path, skirts the Hudson River, and loops through Philipstown Recreation and state park trails. The Half Marathon follows the 5K route and continues to climb and descend two notable hills, offering views of the river and state park. The Kids Costumed Fun Run takes place on the recreation center grounds.
The Half Marathon includes an on-course aid station and a marked course. The event notes spectator and volunteer presence along the route and at the finish. The Castle to River 5K also serves as one of three races in the Philipstown Triple Crown series, which awards top overall finishers across the series and provides commemorative shirts to participants who complete all three races.
