Castle to Castle ULTRA 36

Castle to Castle ULTRA 36 is a point to point endurance run on Saturday 17 July 2027 covering 36 miles between Clitheroe Castle and Lancaster Castle. The route is largely trail but passes through some urban areas and road crossings where runners may need to slow or stop. Full route information and a GPX file are provided to registered participants shortly before the event.

Participants receive a race pack on the day that includes a bib number and tracker and must pass a kit check. Mandatory kit includes a waterproof coat or jacket with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, a water bottle or bladder with at least 1 litre capacity, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle. Photographic identification is required at registration. Missing mandatory items can lead to disqualification or a time penalty of at least 1 hour per missing item unless the item is recovered.

There are six checkpoints; all will provide water and cordial and four will offer additional snacks. The event uses chip timing, live tracking, a fully marked route, well stocked aid stations, regular checkpoints, and offers medals and finishers hoodies. The maximum permitted time for completion is 10 hours. Return transport back to the start is available for £10 (runners only) and can be purchased when registering. Entry fee is £65 and pre registration is required; no entries are available on the day. Participants must be 18 or over. Entry closes Sunday 11 July 2027 unless the event limit is reached. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
