Camp Lug-A-Chug

Camp Lug-A-Chug is a volunteer weekend organized by Go Beyond Racing in Cougar, WA. Volunteers carry water and other supplies into remote aid stations that support the Volcanic race. After each hike participants are provided food at the aid station resupply points.

The event runs over Saturday and Sunday. Participation may be for one day or both days. Each day's roundtrip hike in and out is about 9 miles. Volunteers gather at Marble Mountain Sno Park (lower lot) to divide supplies and begin the hike.

There is a light competition with awards of free race entries: one prize for the person who carries the most weight relative to their body weight and another for the person who carries the most combined weight across the two days. Large backpacks are recommended; some loaner packs may be available. Participants should bring the snacks and drinking water they will consume on the hike. Trekking poles are useful for the route.

Camping is available nearby on Friday and Saturday nights and participants may stay overnight to share meals and informal evening activities. There is no fee to participate; the weekend is organized as a volunteer opportunity by Go Beyond Racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
