About the race
Camp Lug-A-Chug is a weekend volunteer event organized by Go Beyond Racing in Cougar, WA, based at Marble Mountain Sno Park lower lot. The activity is a volunteer effort to carry water into remote aid stations for a nearby race.
Volunteers hike supplies into the aid stations and return the same day. Each day's hike in and out is about 9 miles roundtrip. Participants can help for a single day or attend both days. There is no participation fee.
Organizers provide some loaner backpacks and divide supplies before the hikes. Volunteers should bring a large backpack if available, plus the snacks and water they will consume on the hike. Trekking poles are noted as helpful. Camping is common nearby on Friday and Saturday nights.
The event includes informal competitions with prizes: one prize for the person who carries the most weight relative to their body weight and another for the person who carries the most combined weight over two days. Registration opens February 1, 2027. The event is intended to support aid stations used by the race and to involve volunteers in logistics on the mountain.
