Camp Chestnut Ridge Trail Run
The 17th annual Camp Chestnut Ridge Trail Run occurs on November 21, 2026 at Camp Chestnut Ridge in Efland, North Carolina. The course is on the camp's single-track trails and on dirt and gravel roads, with rolling hills through old hardwood forest. The trails include uneven terrain, rocks, roots, horse poo and sometimes mud or standing water.
There are four race options:
- 1 mile Fun Run/Walk around the lake for kids and families.
- 5K Trail Run open to runners and walkers.
- 8 mile Trail Run for runners covering a longer distance.
- 5K Virtual Race run anywhere; shirts are mailed and there are no awards for the virtual event.
Registration opens September 19, 2026. Online registration closes November 20, 2026; virtual registration closes November 21, 2026. Fees are $25 for the 1 mile event, $35 for the 5K, and $45 for the 8 mile. Participants who register by November 9 are guaranteed a race shirt. Registration will be capped at 200 for the shorter trail race and 150 for the 8 mile race. Day-of registration, if available, uses higher fees and cash or check only. Early packet pick-up and registration will be available at Bull City Running Southpoint on November 20 from 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm.
Camp staff can provide childcare during the races. Pets and baby strollers are not permitted in the races. This is a no headphones event to help trail safety. Awards include top male and female in the shorter trail race and the 8 mile race, with age-group prizes in the listed age brackets. Proceeds benefit the camp annual fund for ministry, facilities, equipment and scholarships. If the event must be canceled for reasons beyond the control of the organizers, no refunds will be made.
