About the race
The event is the eighth annual Cabernet Canter Cross Country 5K/10K held at Talon Winery in Lexington, Kentucky. The races are run on a cross country course at the winery and offer two distances.

Each finisher receives a finisher's award and a drink ticket redeemable for one glass of Talon wine; participants under 21 receive all parts of the finisher award except the glass of wine. After the races there is an after-party with live music and wine sales in the Talon Winery tasting room and Monarch Pavilion that runs until 10 p.m.
Packet pickup is available before race day at John's Run/Walk Shop, 317 S. Ashland Ave, Lexington KY 40502, on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Race day packet pickup is at the Talon Winery Tasting Pavilion. Early pickup is encouraged to help ensure smoother race day and participants may pick up packets for others.
Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes February 28, 2026. The registration fee is $35 for the 5K and $45 for the 10K. The event is part of the Central Kentucky Beer, Bourbon & Wine Cross Country Series and is presented by John's Bluegrass Racing Company with sponsorship from Diadora.
