Brokenagan Backyard Ultra
The Brokenagan Backyard Ultra is scheduled for July 24, 2027 in Silver Star Provincial Park, Vernon, BC, at an elevation of about 5,500 feet. The event includes two separate formats on different courses: the Backyard Ultra and a 24‑Hour Solo Endurance Run.
The Backyard Ultra uses a single loop of about 4.17 miles (4 miles 880 feet) that runners must complete on the hour each hour. The loop mixes single and double track trails, hard pack and grassy terrain, and passes through forest, open meadows with wildflowers, marshy lowlands, and alongside a mountain lake on the cross‑country ski trails of Sovereign Lake Nordic Club. The Backyard Ultra follows standard Backyard rules: each loop must be completed in under an hour, no late starts, no personal aid during a yard, and the last runner to complete a loop is the winner.
The 24‑Hour Solo Endurance Run uses a separate course where participants complete as many 5 km loops as possible within 24 hours.
Support and logistics include a manned aid station providing water, Tailwind, gels, electrolytes, fruit, and snacks, plus music and massage at scheduled times. Entry details include an early registration fee of CA$100 until January 31, 2027, a T‑shirt guarantee for an additional CA$30, and an optional meal for CA$15. Participants must be 18 years or older on race day; minors may participate with prior permission from the Race Director. Registration is handled via UltraSignup and opens November 1, 2026.
