Bournemouth's Town to Trail : 8 Mile Trail Run
Town to Trail is an urban-to-trail running event in Bournemouth that links the town centre with Meyrick Park and surrounding woodland. The route is a loop starting and ending by Bournemouth Square and covers 8 miles on mixed surfaces, mainly traffic-free paths and woodland singletrack.
The course is fully marked and chip-timed, with a single aid station located at about Mile 5 inside Meyrick Park offering water and snacks. Total elevation gain is 81 metres, described as gentle undulation. Facilities include toilets at the start, at the finish and near 6 km at the Meyrick Park Club. Marshalled road crossings are used where needed.
The event is presented as beginner-friendly with a moderate difficulty rating (2 of 5). Trail shoes are recommended but not essential; organisers note that runners who can cover 5 km in an hour should manage the course. GPX files are available ahead of race day for navigation certainty.
Race headquarters and registration are on the first floor of Bobby’s & Co at PATCH in Bournemouth Square, which also hosts the after event gathering where a bar will be open. The event is delivered by Eightmile Events in collaboration with Sole Clinic and features local partners for kit, timing and on-course support.
A separate Run Easy 10-week training programme is offered alongside the event; it includes weekly coached sessions, a training plan, group communication and costs £15 for the full programme. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
