About the race

Bold Coast Bash on November 8, 2026 in Cutler, Maine is a trail running event offering two distances on the Bold Coast Trail. The event features a single track course that runs along coastal cliffs and through inland sections of mud, rocks, bog bridging and exposed roots.

Distances:

  • 50K Ultra
  • 10.5 Mile Fun Run (16k)

The course is a figure 8 with a short middle section run twice each lap. Each lap is about 16.7 km (10.4 miles); the 50K is three laps. All course turns and junctions are marked with blue surveyor flags. Runners must return to the Start/Finish area at the end of every lap and have mandatory kit checked before leaving for each lap.

Only the Start/Finish area has an aid station; there are no aid stations on the course and runners must be self supporting. Expect laps to take roughly two to four hours. Recent 50K DNF rates have ranged from about 32% to 37%. The organizers require the following mandatory equipment: a windproof or waterproof jacket, warm mid layer, warm head covering, warm gloves, foil blanket, whistle, at least 200 calories of instant energy, and a headlamp for the third lap. Cell coverage is spotty; live tracking via the Webscorer app updates about every five minutes and requires cell service.

Registration opens August 1, 2026 at 7:00am and closes November 5 at 11:59pm ET. Entrants are capped to protect fragile ecosystems; wait lists open automatically when races fill. The entry fee is $45. The event is organized by Bold Coast Runners. The organizers do not issue refunds; deferrals to the next year are allowed through October 31 with a 90% rollover of the fee. The event includes finisher medallions, a runner memento, and awards for male and female winners at each distance. The organizers acknowledge the ancestral lands of the Wabanaki tribes and offer a 50 percent discount to indigenous runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
