Blues Cruise 50K Trail Ultramarathon

The Blues Cruise is a trail ultramarathon in Reading, PA, held around Blue Marsh Lake. The main event is a 50K race run on a roughly 31 mile loop that passes through woods and fields, includes single track, plenty of rolling hills, and under 0.5 miles of public roadway. The course features a major climb called the Ski Slope with about 240 feet of vertical gain and one optional water crossing that can be taken by splash or by bridge.

The event marks the 21st anniversary of the race and is organized by the Pagoda Pacers. The course is served by seven themed aid stations that are described as well stocked and staffed by local ultrarunners. There is a strictly enforced nine hour time limit with cutoffs at aid stations 5, 6, and 7; a sweep vehicle is available for runners who are removed from the course and waits may occur. Camping is offered for a small fee.

A relay option is available for teams of two to four runners. A team captain registers the team and each relay runner registers individually. Relay legs and approximate distances:

  • Leg 1 The Lead Out, ~4.7 miles
  • Leg 2 The Voyager, ~13.3 miles
  • Leg 3 The Mountaineer, ~7.1 miles includes the Ski Slope
  • Leg 4 The Finisher, ~6.75 miles

All registered participants have access to post-race activities and the buffet. Registrations close September 28 and shirts are ordered for registrants through August 31. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
