Blackdown Hill Challenge
The Blackdown Hill Challenge is organised by Midhurst Milers in conjunction with Fernhurst Recreation Ground Trust and takes place at Fernhurst Recreation Ground, postcode GU27 3HY. The main adult race covers a route from the recreation ground to the Temple of the Winds on Blackdown and includes a climb of 866 ft with views across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.
There are two adult trail options:
- 10 km from Fernhurst Recreation Ground to the Temple of the Winds
- 4.5 km approximate less demanding trail for adults
The event is licenced by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Facilities listed for the event include on site parking, fully marked courses, a water station and toilets. All entries must be made online; no entries are available on the day. Adults must be at least 16 years old to enter the adult races. The event is not open to Canicross and dogs are not allowed on the course.
Fernhurst is about 3 miles south of Haslemere on the A286 and about 5 miles north of Midhurst. The recreation ground is adjacent to the Red Lion pub and the village green. A GPX route is available and there is separate information for junior and school team races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
