Birkie Trail Run
The Birkie Trail Run takes place at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, WI on September 26, 2026. The festival offers multiple trail events on the Birkie Trail system, including singletrack, ski trail, and two track sections, plus rolling hills and narrow flowing trail segments.
Distances and events:
- Marathon
- Marathon Relay, 3-person and 6-person teams
- Half Marathon
- Nordic Trek, 8.5 miles
- 10K, new for 2026
- 5K Run or Walk
- Kids races including a 1K Kids Dash
Course notes: the marathon, half marathon, and relay include new singletrack ascent to the top of Mt. Telemark. The Nordic Trek uses ski trail, logging roads, and double track and does not include singletrack to the summit.
Registration includes a custom T-shirt, race bib and pins, finisher medal, on-course aid station fuel, post race snacks and Kemp’s chocolate milk, and one complementary beer, nonalcoholic beer, or soda. Relay teams are placed by age and gender categories; the first team member to register pays for the team and other members must register to receive bibs and swag. Age minimums apply: marathon participants must be 18 or older, half marathon and marathon relay participants must be 13 or older.
Aid stations provide Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, and cookies; finish line provisions include Kemps chocolate milk and other snacks. Cups will not be provided so participants should bring a hydration vessel. Awards include overall podiums and age class awards; winners may receive Rossignol trail running shoes.
