About the race
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon at Heritage Park in Corpus Christi is a themed running event presented by Bigfoot Running Company. The event includes multiple distances and a virtual option, with courses on parks and green belts that can include pavement, crushed granite, and dirt paths.
A pre-race costume contest is held at the starting area and is judged for creativity and authenticity; a Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and prize package are given before the race. Aid stations are placed along the course to provide water and on-course assistance. A rally tent at the finish area hosts post-race awards, music, and Mexican treats and drinks. Medals, shirts, and trophies are part of the participant recognition, with a shirt guarantee cutoff set at 10 days before the event.
Timing and awards: the 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip timed and offer overall trophies, masters recognition pins, and standard age group pins for multiple age categories. The Volunteer then Run option includes a custom chip timed bib, shirt, and finisher medal. Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event start. The event operates under a no-refund policy; race proceeds in all weather conditions.
