Beyond Newcastle 2027
Wild Deer Events stages Beyond Newcastle on Saturday 24 April 2027 with a city-centre base at Guild Hall Car Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. Both routes start beneath the Swing Bridge on Newcastle Quayside and use signed paths with marshals and feed stations.

The 55 km route follows the River Tyne to Wylam, crosses the Tyne, returns to Derwenthaugh Marina and then follows the River Derwent. Runners pass High Spen, enter Chopwell Woods, go through Lintzford and drop into the Derwent Valley, then follow the Derwent Walk back to the River Tyne and return along the river to finish on the west path of the Swing Bridge on the Newcastle side.
There are three well stocked feed stations on the 55 km course at 10, 20 and 26 miles, and one well stocked feed station on the 25 km course at 8 miles. Live chip timing is provided. Compulsory kit guidance asks runners to carry a running backpack or vest, water or fluids, a charged mobile phone with emergency contacts saved, some food or gels and a lightweight jacket.
There is a cut off of 6.30pm for the event; runners who do not reach the final feed station on the Derwent Walk by 4pm will not be permitted to continue.
