Besseggløpet
Besseggløpet is a skyrace across Besseggen in Jotunheimen. The race follows the ordinary T marked route over the ridge, from Memurubu to the Gjendesheim tourist cabin. The course is about 14 km long, start and finish are at roughly 1000 metres above sea level and the highest point is about 1743 metres above sea level. The terrain is uneven, mainly gravel and rock, and parts of the trail may have remaining snow. The listed event date is 19 June 2027.
Competition classes are separated by gender with age categories: 15–16, 17–18, 19–20, 21–23, 24–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59 and 60+. Timekeeping is provided by eqtiming.no. Competitors must wear both race bib and timing chip. There is an intermediate time at the band and all times and results are published on eqtiming.no.
A recreational class is offered without age divisions and without timing. This class has reserved boat places to Memurubu and additional boat capacity. The event also includes a children's race for ages 3 to 10; participants receive a start number and there is speaker commentary but no ranking. The children's course is 1.5 km and follows the trail from Gjendeosen toward Besseggen and on to Gjendesheim. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
