Besotted at Bingley
Besotted at Bingley is an event organised by Its Grim Up North Running, scheduled for 20 February 2027. Races run along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on a mostly flat, even towpath with good underfoot conditions; the course includes 3-rise and 5-rise locks that change the elevation locally.
Distances offered:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 10 mile
- Half marathon
- 20 mile (two 10 mile laps)
- Marathon (two half marathon laps)
The course is chip timed, marshalled and signed. Feed and drink stations are normally placed about every three miles and finishers receive a bespoke medal and treats. The terrain is described as good trail and the event is licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA Rules.
Some logistical details reflect recent canal works: parking, registration and toilets are at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club on Wagon Lane BD16 1TS. After registration participants walk roughly ten minutes to the Fishermans Pub Garden for the start and finish. Bingley train station is about 1.5 miles from registration and the event locations.
Organiser guidance notes that GPX route files are available, marshals are not at every corner, large over ear headphones are banned, bone conduction or single in ear use is preferred, and withdrawals or distance drops should be reported to the nearest marshal. Transfers or deferrals can be self-served up to 72 hours before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
