Beaver Tail Trail 4 Miler
The Beaver Tail Trail 4 Miler is a cross country style trail race held at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, Virginia on September 26, 2026. The race follows a roughly four mile loop that circumvents Beaver Lake and mixes wide fire roads with sections of single track that include two short technical stretches with roots and some rolling hills. Much of the course is described as highly runnable.
The event is presented by PR Run Club and is associated with the Chesterfield Outdoor Fest held in the park later the same day. Awards are planned for the top three overall male and female finishers and for top age group winners. Select runners will also be chosen throughout the field for random gift card prizes.
Logistics include packet pickup at PR Run and Walk on the Friday before the race and onsite packet pickup near the State Park Visitors Center on race morning. Parking is available at the large lot at the end of State Park Road with a short walk to check in. Park entry and parking are free that day for National Public Lands Day.
The race is conducted cupless to reduce waste. Water and hydration will be available at the start and finish area, and participants are asked to use their own handheld bottle, vest, or reservoir if they require water during the run. Pets are not permitted on the course, though certified service animals are allowed and leashed pets may remain on the sidelines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
