Beat the Ferry : Studland, Dorset

Beat the Ferry is a coastal trail running event on the Purbeck peninsula held on 10 July 2027 in Studland, Dorset. The race uses out and back routes that follow sections of the South West Coast Path and pass chalk cliffs, National Trust dunes, castle ruins and harbour views.

The event starts on Studland Beach at Knoll Beach Café, a short walk from the race headquarters at Knoll House Hotel. Registration and bib and chip collection take place at the race headquarters. The finish returns to Knoll House Hotel where cold water, tea, coffee and cake are provided. A swim at Knoll Beach is possible after the race.

The event runs as a relatively small field and offers two distance options with measured elevations.

  • 50 km. Out and back via Old Harry Rocks, Corfe Castle and Grange Hill. 922 m elevation.
  • 25 km. Out and back to Corfe Castle. 556 m elevation.

The route description highlights wide open sand at Studland Beach, white chalk stacks at Old Harry Rocks and a turnaround near Corfe Castle for the shorter distance.
