About the race
Bear Mountain Trail Run is a forest trail race in Mission, BC. The event offers three distances that all start and finish at Bear Mountain Park and run on local singletrack.
- 30K (1,450 m of gain), two laps of the 15K loop.
- 15K (730 m of gain), a full loop of Bear Mountain’s trail network.
- 8K (350 m of gain), climbs to the top then returns on technical rolling trail.
The course features steep climbs, fast and flowy downhills, and mossy, misty West Coast singletrack. The term singletrack refers to narrow trails wide enough for one runner. The 8K includes technical sections with roots, rocks and uneven footing.
Aid stations and support differ by distance: the 8K has no aid station; the 15K has one aid station at km 7.5; the 30K has aid stations at km 7.5, 15 and 22.5. Aid stations will offer Näak drink mix and gels, water, chips, pickles, watermelon, bananas, oranges, cookies, pretzels and candy. The race is cupless, so runners must carry their own cup or bottle. A medical crew will be on site.
Heads or Trails organizes the event as a fundraiser for Mission Search and Rescue and the Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
