Beacon Hill Backyard ∞
Beacon Hill Backyard is a backyard ultra held at Beacon Hill Country Park, Loughborough, Woodhouse Eaves, LE12 8SP. Participants run the same 6.71 km loop every hour until only one runner remains, or they stop. The course includes gravel, forest path and volcanic outcrop and gains about 180 m of elevation per loop.
Key loop metrics:
- 6.71 km loop every hour
- 180 m elevation per loop
- 24 laps equals 100 miles
The event offers two formats: an open-ended Full Beacon Hill Backyard and a 12-Hour Taster that follows the same rules but concludes at 12 hours. Entries are capped at 250 runners across both formats. Entry fees are listed between £80 and £95.
Between loops runners may use marquee bunkhouses at the start/finish area for rest, kit storage and refuelling. The event provides a 60 L duffel bag with a labelled cubby hole, outdoor paddock space when weather allows, free race day photographs, and toilets at base and on the course. Runners who reach 100 miles receive a medal; others receive a DNF patch.
Race rules follow the standard Backyard Ultra format: a new loop begins every hour, warning sirens sound before each start, runners must be in the start corral when the siren sounds, and no pacers or outside aid are allowed on the loop itself. The event is affiliated with Big's Backyard Ultra and with UK Athletics and the Trail Running Association, and results count toward the Big's Backyard Ultra ranking system.
