About the race
Bay by Bike MTB and Trail Run is staged from Baywest Mall, outside Entrance 4, within the Nelson Mandela Bay metro and uses Baywest Trails and Norm Hudlin Trails for its routes. The event offers multiple MTB and trail run distances:
- 40km MTB
- 20km MTB and Trail Run
- 10km MTB and Trail Run
- 5km MTB and Trail Run
The 40km MTB comprises two 20km laps and the 20km route features flowing singletrack. All finishers receive a medal.
Online entries close at midnight on Thursday 4 March 2027. Late entries are allowed at race weekend registration with a R100 late entry fee. Entry fees for MTB and trail run distances vary by distance; a Cycling South Africa (CSA) Day License is required for the 40km MTB only and can be purchased with entry for R70. The event is CSA sanctioned and will be run according to CSA rules.
CSA age rules apply: 40km MTB minimum age 15 years (40km Ebike 19+), 20km MTB minimum age 8 years, and 10km and 5km MTB are open to all ages; children under 8 must be accompanied by a participating adult. There are no age limits for trail runs, but participants under 8 years must be accompanied by a participating adult. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
