GORUCK - BATTLE OF THE 3 MILER

The event is a load-bearing backyard ultra style endurance challenge held at Partridge Family Farm in Ipswich. Athletes complete consecutive 3-mile laps that begin on the hour; each lap must be finished and the athlete returned to the start corral within 60 minutes or they are removed from the event. Placement is determined by cumulative running time across completed laps and divisions include solo and relay.

All official backpacks and weights are provided on site. Organizers state 250 backpacks will be available, and athlete spaces are capped at 190 solos and 30 teams. Official kit and integrity rules include tamper-evident seals on weights, random pack inspections, a prohibition on removing the pack during a live lap, and no outside assistance with backpacks. Pack underweight or broken seals result in disqualification.

The event runs in winter conditions and requires specific personal equipment. A high-output head torch is mandatory for early and late running periods. Competitors must provide a self-sufficient pit shelter and have waterproof outer layers, spare insulation and base layers, spare socks, hats and gloves, and a thermal flask. Hot water and fuel stations are available at the end of every lap. Spectators have free access to a village area with hot food, drinks, and sports supplements.

Entry options mention a price range in GBP for athlete entries and a pairs relay fee. The event is for ages 18 and over and operates under a no refunds policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
