Two Tunnels - August 2027
Two Tunnels takes place on Sunday 15 August 2027 in Brickfields Park, The Hollow, Twerton, Bath, United Kingdom. The event is organised by Relish The Great Outdoors.
The route passes beneath the city of Bath through two former railway tunnels. The Devonshire Tunnel is 408 m long and the Combe Down Tunnel is 1,672 m long. Both tunnels are well lit, well surfaced and have been converted into a shared use path for runners, walkers and cyclists. The route provides a flatter alignment through parts of the city.
The tunnel route reflects local transport history: the Somerset & Dorset Railway closed in 1966 and the tunnels remained sealed until April 2013. Over a seven year period the Two Tunnels Group and Sustrans worked to reopen and convert the tunnels for shared use.
