Bacchus Wine Half Marathon & 10K
The event takes place at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking, Surrey, and offers trail-based running with a strong emphasis on wine and on-course entertainment. Distances on offer include:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 2 km Fun Run for children under 12
The Half Marathon is a one-lap route that starts and finishes in front of Denbies main building. The course is predominantly on trails with some tarmac, is undulating and very hilly in places, and uses sections of the Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way with views over the Mole Valley and Ranmore Common. The 10K follows the early part of the half route before returning through the vineyards. The children’s fun run is untimed and free; each child receives a medal and a drink.
A distinctive feature is the drinks stations: six wine stations on the half and three on the 10K. Half-marathon runners can sample six English wines along the course; 10K participants over 18 can sample two wines. Underage participants are offered soft drinks; age status is marked on race numbers. There is musical entertainment on the course and a post-race party with food and a complimentary drink included for Half and 10K entries.
Facilities include secure baggage, toilets and changing areas (no showers), free parking, on-site restaurant and gift shop. The race is chip timed, photos are available for free digital download, and medical support is provided. Volunteers receive event benefits including free future entry, a goody bag and a post-race meal ticket. Entry fees listed are Half Marathon £72, 10K £50 and the children’s 2 km run is free. Entrants for the Half Marathon must be 18 years or older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
