ASF 5.56K Run

ASF 5.56K Run is scheduled for March 6 and takes place at Brocks Gap Brewing Company. The course is a partial trail that loops around Black Creek Mountain Bike Park and finishes at the brewery. The advertised distance is 5.56k and the route includes trail sections at sunset.

Registration is limited to 300 runners and the event is open to participants aged 10 years and older. The race proceeds regardless of weather. Registered runners (up to the 300 limit) receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, and koozie. Race-day registration is available but event items are not guaranteed.

The event includes two division types for both sexes: regular divisions with no extra weight, and heavy divisions that require a 35 lb vest or ruck. All vests and rucks will be weighed after the race and failure to meet the 35 lb requirement disqualifies a participant from awards. Headlamps or flashlights are required due to the nighttime trail sections.

Logistics note that parking is at Hoover Met only; Brocks Gap Brewing Company allows handicapped parking. There is a path and stairs from the parking lot to the brewery. Restrooms are available at the brewery and the start line. A single water station is located at the trail entrance. Bag check is available during the race and bib numbers are written on bags.

The event is organized by the Alabama SWAT Foundation, a nonprofit that supports training and leadership development for SWAT officers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
