McIntosh 10km & 25km
The event offers two trail race distances on the McIntosh Run Singletrack trail system near Halifax, Nova Scotia. The courses share sections and form looped routes through a network of granite singletrack with roots and rocks on primarily hard surfaces. The area includes views of Halifax Harbour and Flat Lake and was partially affected by a past forest fire.
Organizers will stage the two distances with staggered starts to space runners during the opening kilometers. The 25 km course includes an aid station near the 14 km mark stocked with water, Skratch, and other items. There is prizing for podium finishers in both distances and awards for overall winners aged over 50, plus various door prizes.
The trail network is maintained by the McIntosh Run Watershed Association, which developed over 27 km of singletrack since 2016 and continues to expand the system. Trails pass through forests, granite barrens, and wetlands and rely on volunteer contributions for construction and upkeep. The event typically proceeds in most weather; participants are advised that traction aids may be useful if surfaces are icy or snowy. No mandatory gear is required, and participants are asked to remain on the course and respectful of the trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
