12 Hour Adventure Trail Run
The 12 Hour Adventure Trail Run is held at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia. The event takes place in a protected area spanning over 17,000 acres featuring more than 40 miles of trails. The race format focuses on total mileage achieved within the 12 hour time limit, rather than raw speed. The field size is limited to 100 participants.
The course consists of a 6.5 mile looped figure-eight layout. This circuit is composed of 100% trails, featuring a mix of single track and fire roads. Each loop includes approximately 650 feet of elevation gain and loss. The terrain is characterized by undulating hills with varied ascents and descents. Underfoot conditions include rocks, roots, and dirt, which may become muddy depending on weather conditions.
Participants can choose from the following distance and format options:
- 30 km individual race
- 12 hour individual endurance run
- 2 person relay team event
The event provides two aid stations. The primary station is located at the start and finish area, offering a selection of food and sustenance throughout the duration of the run. A secondary aid station is located on the course and provides water only. The event concludes with an awards ceremony and a post-race meal for participants and their support crews.
