Above the Clouds Ultra

Above the Clouds Ultra is a trail event held in Woodland Park, Colorado, on October 3, 2026. The event offers two distances:

  • 50k
  • 10k

The route begins and finishes at Merit Academy in Woodland Park. The course ascends Lovell Gulch to Rampart Range Road, continues along Rampart Range Road with views of Pikes Peak, then follows fast singletrack around Rampart Reservoir and a less-traveled National Forest trail labeled 700.A. Runners proceed north on quiet National Forest roads with panoramic mountain views before descending the second half of the Lovell Gulch loop back to Merit Academy.

Aid stations are placed along the course and are stocked with Tailwind, Muir Energy gels, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, soda, and many stations offer warm food options such as bacon, quesadillas, and potatoes. Crew access is permitted for 50k runners at specific crew-accessible aid stations; one aid station (Rampart Ridge) is not crew accessible. The Dam aid station is located beyond a pay station with a $10 entry fee.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at Colorado GearLab and on race morning at the start/finish area. Registration closes September 30, 2026. Merit Academy provides parking with attendants and hosts the start and finish on its track. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
