This event consists of a marathon, a half marathon and a 10 km race held within Pennypack Park in Philadelphia. Courses run along the paved bike path beside Pennypack Creek, offering mostly shaded creek-side scenery and long stretches without road traffic. The midsection includes short steep rolling hills and a trail segment referred to as Mount Cuckoo.
Aid and support include multiple staffed fluid stations, with water and Gatorade available at regular intervals. The half uses six fluid stops and the full uses thirteen; gels are provided at specific mile points and runners are advised to carry familiar fuel as backup. Medical support includes an EMT ambulance on site and support bikers along the course.
Post race activities take place at the Ed Kelly Amphitheater and include a popup beergarden, nonalcoholic beer and bratwurst, live German-style entertainment, and an award ceremony. Every finisher receives a finisher medal. Overall winners receive traditional German cuckoo clock prizes and age group awards use decorative items from the Black Forest. A portion of entry fees supports Pennypack Park and local charities.
