Trail Running calendar near Mallaig 2026-2027

A 31 miles ultra around Loch Lyon and into Glen Lochay with about 3,500 ft of ascent. The mostly off road route includes several river crossings, multiple water checkpoints and mandatory kit requirements.

A 27 km mountain race along the Trotternish Ridge from Flodigary to Storr Lochs, with about 2000 m of ascent and unmarked navigation between checkpoints. Entries are limited and the event follows Scottish Hill Runners kit rules.

A mountain hill race in the Western Mamores covering about 13 km and 1300 m of ascent over two Munro summits. The unmarked, clockwise route starts and finishes near Lower Falls and requires mandatory mountain safety kit.

July 2026

A 170 miles foot race from Glasgow to Inverness along the West Highland Way and the Great Glen Way with about 24,000 ft of ascent. Entry is restricted to runners with prior ultra experience and the route uses tracked, marshalled checkpoints..

A 72 mile ultramarathon along the waymarked Great Glen Way from Corpach to Inverness with about 8,500 ft of ascent; solo unsupported race with marshaled checkpoints, mandatory kit and 4 UTMB points.

Experience a solo 42 mile race along the Great Glen Way from Fort Augustus to Inverness. This unsupported event features views of Loch Ness and 6000 feet of elevation. Runners finish with a final lap of the athletics track.

A memorial hill race on Skye covering 4.5 miles with 2,500 ft of ascent from Sligachan Hotel on 11 July 2026. Entries are full and new runners are placed on a waiting list; proceeds go to Skye Mountain Rescue Team.

A backyard ultra at Murthly Castle Estate where runners repeat 4.167 mile loops with a one hour time limit until one runner remains. Medals are awarded to all nonwinners as DNFs and a 100 mile medal is given to those still running after 24..

A community 10 km run or walk on the Isle of Berneray during Berneray Week in July. The course mixes road and machair terrain, with registration at the Community Hall and post-race refreshments.

August 2026

A 5.6 km hill race at The Eilan, Newtonmore with 370 m of climb, varied terrain and an initial obstacle scramble before a climb to the summit of An Torr and a technical descent back to the games field finish.

A women only ultramarathon along the River Tay Way from Loch Tay to Perth on 1 August 2026. The fully waymarked route is about 75 km and includes chip timing, medical support, water stations, and toilets stocked with free period products.

A 10th anniversary trail event on the Loch Eck Loop featuring a 52.22 km route with 983 m of ascent. Solo and relay options run on fully signposted trails with checkpoints, refreshments and finisher items.

A short hill race held during the Glenurquhart Highland Games in Drumnadrochit, covering about 3.5 miles with 700 feet of ascent; entries have a £10 fee and a minimum age of 17.
