Highland Ultra
The Highland Ultra is a 125 km coastal mountain ultra held on the Knoydart Peninsula in the West Highlands of Scotland. The route covers rocky mountains, broad glens, rivers and high lochs and runs over mountain trails and bogs. The event is staged over three stages in three days with a four day event duration and base camp and finish at Longbeach, Inverie. The race starts in the village of Inverie and competitors arrive and depart the race area by boat.
Entries are available for individuals and for teams of 2, 3 or 4. Accommodation during the race is in tents and places are limited to 90 competitors. Temperatures on the event page are shown with daytime ranges of 5°C to 25°C and evening ranges of 0°C to 10°C; typical daylight hours are listed as 14.
Safety and support provisions include GPS tracking, manned checkpoints and camps with medical and support staff, drinking water on course, boiling water at camps and a medic at each checkpoint. Checkpoints are placed at approximately every 10 km. Each competitor must carry all mandatory kit listed in the race information pack and organisers require at least one marathon length event finished within 12 months as an entry guideline.
The entry fee covers transfers to and from the race, storage and carriage of luggage, race accommodation, digital race photos, a race T shirt and finisher medal, and a donation to a woodland carbon offset project. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
