Experience a traditional fell race near Wythop Mill featuring a 5.9 km senior route and dedicated junior courses for all ages.

December 2026

Join the Really Wild Boar, a classic fell race in the York Dales on Saturday 5 December 2026. Tackle 9 km with 450 m of climb, enjoy hearty post race soup and a roll at the Fat Lamb Inn and soak up wild moorland views.

A winter 55-mile (ish) ultra across the Cheviot hills, based at Ingram Village Hall, with GPS tracking and a 24-hour finish limit. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and has an 18+ minimum age.

A blindfolded navigation challenge in Kendal where participants are dropped miles from the event centre and must find their own way back using no maps or GPS. Options include 6, 10 and 15 mile drops and optional live tracking.

A 20 km fell race on Gisborough Moors in the North York Moors on Sun 6 Dec 2026, with 850 m of climb. Entry is available by pre-entry and on the day; teams are allowed and the race forms part of the North East Fell Running Champs.

Trail races of 12, 19 and 32 miles take place at Otley Cricket Club on 12 December 2026. Entrants must be 18 or older; the event limits numbers to 100, uses trackers and provides checkpoints plus a finisher medal and event T shirt.

Take on the Simonside Cairns fell race in Rothbury, Northumberland, a rugged 11 mile route over moorland and cairns that rewards grit and scenery. Entry on the day from Jubilee Hall is £10 and teams of three are welcome.

Take part in a flexible 7 hour time challenge along the scenic River Wear in Durham. Run as many trail laps as you choose to earn a themed medal, goody bag, and a seasonal bobble hat.

Silent Night is a night-time, unmarked fell race to the 703 m summit of Chapelfell Top. The course is 6.6 km with 370 m ascent, requires navigation and strict, extensive mandatory kit.

A winter mountain ultra on 19 December 2026, the 38 mile circuit around Helvellyn starts and finishes at Askham and includes about 2000 m of ascent. The unmarked route requires navigation and entries are limited to 200 starters.

Run Fellrunner at Stoop at Penistone Hill near Haworth, an 8 km fell race with 250 m climb across the Pennine hills. Festive extras include a free Santa hat, Christmas prizes, a Curly Wurly for finishers and post race coffee.
