The route covers mountain trails and bogs, with frequent ascents between glens, rivers and high lochs, and views over the sea lochs Nevis and Hourn across about 85 square miles of terrain.

The event is staged over three race stages in three days within a four day event window. Base camp and the finish are at Longbeach, Inverie, with the race starting in the village of Inverie. Arrive and depart the race area by boat. Accommodation is in tents and places available are limited to 90.
