West Macs Monster Trail Running Festival
The Ekistica West Macs Monster is a trail running festival held on the Larapinta Trail through Tjoritja National Park in Central Australia. The event offers a range of event distances from short trail runs to multi-day ultra distances, with listed options including:
- 5 km Tele-Monster
- 25 km Simpsons Monster
- 65 km Standley Monster
- 128 km Ellery Monster
- 231 km Sonder Monster
Entries open each year on October 1 at 7pm. For ultra distances, participants must have an eligible qualifying run completed or a confirmed plan to achieve one before April 30 of the event year; training runs are not accepted as qualifiers. Volunteer registration opens on March 1.
The festival materials acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Owners of the country the Larapinta Trail passes through, noting the ongoing connection of Western and Central Arrernte people to the land. The event is listed with iTRA and UTMB and maintains records, past results, and tracking for previous editions.
