About the race
The Ekistica West Macs Monster is a multi-distance trail running festival on the Larapinta Trail through Tjoritja National Park near Alice Springs. It runs annually on the third weekend in May, with the 2027 dates listed as May 14–16, 2027.
Event distances offered include:
- 5 km Tele-Monster
- 25 km Simpsons Monster
- 65 km Standley Monster
- 128 km Ellery Monster
- 231 km Sonder Monster
Ultra-distance entries require an eligible qualifying run; training runs are not accepted. Entries for each year open at 7pm on October 1 for the following year. All distances were sold out in 2026 and there were no waitlists; ticket transfers may be possible via a community transfers group. Volunteer registration opens on March 1, 2027.
The event acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners of the country the Larapinta Trail passes through, noting the ongoing connection that Western and Central Arrernte people hold to the land, sky and waters of the Tjoritja National Park and nearby sites.
