Wakely Dam Ultra
The Wakely Dam Ultra is a 55K ultramarathon held in the Adirondack Park on a remote section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and Wakely Dam in Piseco, New York. The course is a technical trail with approximately 3,300 feet of total elevation gain. The route has no crossroads; once entered at the dam the only exit options are to emerge at the Piseco Airport or to return the same way.
The event is totally self-supported and all participants provide their own aid. Race operations include packet pickup at the Piseco Airport, pre-race pasta and course updates, bus transport to the start, a required race morning check-in even for those who collected packets earlier, and a staffed finish area with post-race food and festivities. Sweep crews will pick up any trash found along the course.
The 2026 registration fee is $115.00 and includes a race shirt, additional swag, and two meals (a pre-race pasta meal and a post-race meal for runners and their families). Registration requires validation of a recent qualifying performance: one of a 5:15 road marathon within 12 months, a 9:30 50k trail within 12 months, a 50 mile finish within 12 months, or a Wakely 10:30 finish within two years. Registrants must supply the validating race name, year, and a public link to results; alternative arrangements may be possible for those scheduled for a qualifying race if they contact the organizers before registration opens.
Camping and parking rules apply. There is no overnight camping or parking at the Piseco Airport. Camping at the dam and nearby sites is restricted to designated locations with limits on tents per site; primitive sites and nearby first-come first-served sites are available and are monitored by park authorities. Accommodations are available nearby at a local inn offering rooms, cabins, and campsites. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
