Wakely Dam Ultra - Piseco, New York
The Wakely Dam Ultra is a 55K ultra marathon on a remote section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and Wakely Dam in the Adirondack Park. The course is technical trail with about 3,300 feet of total elevation gain. The event is self-supported and all runners must carry or provide their own aid.
The route has no crossroads; once on the section between the dam and Piseco Airport there are only two exits: emerge at the Piseco Airport or return the way you came. Sweep crews collect any trash they find to leave the trail cleaner than when the field entered.
Registration for 2026 includes a race shirt, additional swag, and two meals: a pre-race pasta meal and a post-race party for runners and families. The fee for 2026 is $115. Registration requires validation of a prior race result. Acceptable validations include a sub-5:15 road marathon within the last 12 months, a sub-9:30 50k trail finish within the last 12 months, a 50-mile finish within the last 12 months, or a Wakely finish within the last two years. Credit card information is collected during registration but charges are not processed until validation is complete. Organizers may work with runners who plan a qualifying race if contacted before registration opens.
The event schedule includes athlete check-in and packet pickup, a pre-race pasta meal, a course update meeting that first timers must attend, bus transport to the start, and finish-line food and festivities. Camping near the dam is limited to designated sites and there is no overnight camping or parking allowed at the Piseco Airport. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
